After a steady start, The MT580 exploded in 1999 when New Balance Japan developed a unique partnership with Mita Sneakers, A retailer based in Ueno, And Real MadHECTIC, A Tokyo streetwear label. Whilst common practice now, The idea of a "collaboration" sneaker in 1999 was unheard of. Together, NB and the Japanese partners created unique colours of the MT580 and kickstarted a trend that completely changed the industry.Any New Balance aficionado worth their weight will be able to recognise the colours on this MT580. They represent an homage to the iconic Stussy x Real MadHECTIC "Real Mad Stussy" collaboration released in 2004. The collab comprised of two complimentary 580 colourways which released together.This pair.Being inspired by the MT580AG "Avocado/Golden Rod" . Features uppers in olive green nubuck with beige accents. The original yellow mesh has been swapped out for a more neutral beige off the  MT580TB "Thrush/Beige" sibling from 2004. Aside from a flip on the nylon mesh between the two colourways, The rest of the makeup remains true to the original inspiration.
